Three new House lawmakers – all Democrats – were sworn in Wednesday by Gov. Deval Patrick.

Dan Donahue of Worcester, Dan Cullinane of Dorchester, and Carole Fiola of Fall River were recently elected in special elections to succeed former Reps. John Fresolo, Linda Forry and David Sullivan, respectively.

In remarks after being sworn in, Cullinane asked residents of Hyde Park, Dorchester and Mattapan to be active and present in the political process.

Donahue thanked Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty, who was in the audience, for being a mentor.

Referencing the people who elected her, Fiola said, “My goal is that every day I can continue to reinforce the faith they had in me on Election Day.”

The House will only operate at its full 160-member capacity for a short time. Rep. Dan Winslow, a Norfolk Republican, plans to resign Friday to take a private sector job.
