Representatives from the Boston Parks and Recreation Department are expected to meet with the community Wednesday night to discuss improvements to the Erie/Ellington Playground.

The public meeting, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will be held at the William Devine Golf Course Clubhouse at Franklin Park located at 1 Circuit Dr.

Wednesday’s meeting will be the first in a series of public meetings sponsored by the Parks Department to gather input about possible improvements to the green space, which is located at 125 Erie St. in Dorchester.

Approximately 16,000-square-feet, the park is currently home to a playground, water play area, and benches, according to the Parks Department.

Last renovated in 1998, possible improvements to the park include new play structures, renovations to the water feature, and the installation of new lighting and furniture. Renovations are also expected to address the park’s walkways, code violations, and accessibility issues.

The budget for the design phase of the project is $44,000 and the construction budget is $370,000, according to the Parks Department.

Follow up meetings are expected to be held in November and early-December.
