The Pillsbury Doughboy and his helpers greeted commuters at South Station on Wednesday.

Commuters passing through South Station Wednesday afternoon found a big, white surprise greeting them — and it wasn’t more snow.

The Pillsbury Doughboy made an appearance at the transit hub with a handful of helpers to hand out free cans of cinnamon roll dough and instructions on how to make heart-shaped rolls for Valentine’s Day.

Commuters snapped up the sweet tweets in record time — though the giveaway was scheduled to run from 4 to 7 p.m., the Doughboy’s cupboards were bare by 5 p.m.
