There will be tears. There will be laughter. There will be intense facial expressions and plenty of mayhem: It’s pillow fight time.
On Saturday, April 6, Banditos Misteriosos will be hosting the 7th annual International Pillow Fight Day in Boston. While the location won’t be released until 11:59 p.m. on April 5, pillow fighters everywhere are gearing up for the big day.Bandito T, a member of Banditos Misteriosos, said Boston has participated in International Pillow Fight Day since its inauguration seven years ago. She said the Boston crowd has grown every year, with last year gathering over 1,200 participants in the all-out pillow-fighting frenzy.
“People really love going to pillow fights. I think that most people have this unfulfilled desire for spontaneity and fun within themselves, and [the pillow fight] is an outlet for that natural desire,” Bandito T said.
To participate in the epic pillow fight, Bandito T said fighters should arrive at their unreleased destination by 2:55 p.m., trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. An obvious start signal will go off at 3 p.m. and a chaotic swarm of pillows and people will ensue.
Bandito T said the event is purely for fun. She said that everyone should take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity to playfully attack someone.
“Inside every person is a five-year-old child that just wants to hit people with pillows,” Bandito T said. “This is your only chance, every year, that you can say to that child, ‘Yes, you can do that.’”
The location of the pillow fight will be released on Bandito Misteriosos website at 11:59 p.m. on April 5. The pillow fight will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. The event is open to everyone, and is child-friendly. The guidelines for the event are:
1. Bring a pillow, a soft one is preferred.
2. No feathered pillows - let's keep the mess low.
3. Don't hit anyone without a pillow.
4. If you are wearing glasses, make sure you take them off.
5. Don't hit people with cameras.
6. Go all out!
