Faneuil Hall will be the site of a gun-control rally organized by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino is set to join other elected officials and city residents at Faneuil Hall next Wednesday to call for new federal gun-control laws, city officials announced.

The planned rally will be part of the No More Names tour sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns, an organization co-founded by Menino.

The tour, focused on efforts to reduce gun violence, has included more than two dozen events across more than 20 US states, according to a statement.

The rally will include a reading of the names of people killed by gun violence, the statement said.

The rally is planned to take place at Faneuil Hall at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28. For more information about the No More Names tour, visit nomorenames.org.
