East Boston Main Streets to present 16th annual Taste of Eastie

As the new year approaches, hundreds of current and former East Boston residents anticipate sampling the neighborhood’s diverse dining options at the 16th annual Taste of Eastie.

More than two dozen local eateries, caterers, and event planners will participate in the event at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport Hotel from 6 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, offering cuisine from Central and South America, Italy and around the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and China. This relaxed affair attracts around 300 or more people each year to celebrate the neighborhood’s blend of cultures.

Participants for 2012 include Alia Ristorante, Angela’s Café, Sammy Carlo’s Catering, Celeste Myers Business and Events Concepts, Cucchiello’s Bakery, Dough, D’Parma Ristorante, Ecco, El Kiosco, El Paisa Restaurante, Great Chef Chinese Food, Hot Diggitty, Hyatt Harborside, La Chiva, Lolly’s Bakery, Restaurante Montecristo, Mhak Indian & Pakistani Cuisine, Meridian Food Market, Mi Pueblito Restaurant, Peaches & Cream Exquisite Desserts, Roy’s Cold Cuts & Pizzeria, Sorrentino’s, Spinelli’s Function Facilities and Catering, and Starbucks Coffee.

DJ John Dudley, a lifelong Chelsea resident, will provide musical entertainment. Sponsors for the event include the Massachusetts Port Authority, East Boston Savings Bank, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, Suffolk Downs, Lombardo’s, Cappuccio Construction, MP & Co. Tax & Financial Services, and Star Service Corporation.
