More than 170 children participated in East Boston Main Streets’ 12th Annual Countdown to Kindergarten Parade.

The class of 2025 marched down Meridian Street in t-shirts bearing the message “I’m going to kindergarten” and collected backpacks and school supplies in Central Square’s Bertulli Park. The children enjoyed food and activities in the park and danced to music supplied by DJ John Dudley.

The event was organized by East Boston Main Streets along with the Boston Public Schools Countdown to Kindergarten staff, Cradles to Crayons, the East Boston Social Center, YMCA, Little Folks Community Day Care, East Boston Head Start, the Boston Police Department, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.

The school supplies were donated by a host of local businesses, organizations, and government agencies, including the East Boston Post Office, East Boston Savings Bank, Rapino Memorial Home, MP & Co. Tax & Financial Services, Bellino Insurance, East Boston Dental Associates, East Boston Area Planning Action Council, the Law Office of Michael D’Avolio, East Boston District Court, Boston Police Station A-7, the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, Prime Lending Group, and Walgreens.
