A group of East Boston High School students recently got a practical lesson in dealing with their personal finances through a program sponsored by Cambridge Savings Bank.
The CSBsmart Financial Education Program has helped educate more than 7,000 participants since 2010 in topics such as budgeting, saving, managing a checking account, using credit, and preventing fraud.
But the sessions on Jan. 22 and 23 were the first at East Boston High School, according to a statement released by Cambridge Savings Bank.
Leo Fitzsimons, a math and financial literacy instructor, praised the program, which was presented to 46 students at the school.
“CSBsmart lessons are very well scripted and supported with appropriate materials, such as handouts, PowerPoint slides, and props that bring concepts to life,” Fitzsimons said in the statement.
“CSBsmart is not only an invaluable curriculum, it is presented in a way that keeps high school students fully engaged,” Fitzsimons said.
In addition to live presentations, the bank offers online educational tools at its CSBsmart site.
