Buses replaced trains at five Blue Line subway stations -- between Suffolk Downs and Maverick stations -- causing delays for some commuters on Tuesday morning, MBTA officials said.

T officials said the diversion was necessary due to a "wire problem."

Service resumed at about 1 p.m., after the T's power department finished repairs to an overhead wire, spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an e-mail.

The T has posted an alert posted to its website at about 7 a.m. about the diversion adding that riders should "expect some delays in service."

The Orient Heights Station, which was in the affected area, has been closed since late March and is expected to remain closed until the fall for a project that will overhaul the station.
