The following is from the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce LinkedIn account.

BOSTON, MA – The Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce (HACC) has announced its endorsement of the proposed Caesars Resort at Suffolk Downs, citing the significant economic development opportunities it would bring to East Boston and Revere businesses including its membership across Massachusetts. The endorsement was approved unanimously by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

“The Chamber feels strongly that a world-class resort casino at Suffolk Downs would have a positive impact on local businesses including those that cater to the Latino community,” said Nader Acevedo, HACC President. “Caesars has a proven track record with doing business locally and has demonstrated a commitment to supplier diversity.”

The Host Community Agreements reached with Boston and Revere includes a commitment to spend more than $50 million annually with businesses based in those two cities. In addition to the business opportunities that would be created, The Resort would generate 4,000 permanent jobs and 2,500 construction jobs, with hiring preferences for residents of Revere and Boston.

“A resort casino at Suffolk Downs would provide great job opportunities for members of our community who are having difficulty finding good-paying jobs or working multiple jobs to make ends meet,” said Saratin Rizzuto, HACC Board Member. “Jobs that offer good pay and good benefits in the community will increase the likelihood for more people to spend more with local businesses.”

Over the last several months, Caesars Resort at Suffolk Downs has held a series of informational vendor forums for local business interested in learning more about how the vendor process would work should Suffolk Downs and Caesars earn a resort casino license.

“We look forward to engaging in a meaningful relationship with Caesars Resort and Suffolk Downs that opens the doors of opportunity for our membership and truly brings economic development to the Latino business community,” said Jesus Rosa, Chairman of the Board HACC, “In order to do so we will continue to advocate for the active participation of the Latino business community of Massachusetts”

Referendums on Caesars Resort at Suffolk Downs are scheduled for Tuesday, November 5 in both East Boston and Revere.
