Women who work and volunteer to provide low-income and homeless women with hot meals, showers, and other services were treated to an afternoon at Fenway Park this week as a thank you for their work.
Twenty women from the Back Bay’s Women’s Lunch Place visited Fenway on Wednesday to tour the park and have lunch before cheering on the Red Sox in an afternoon game as part of the State Street Corporation’s Red Sox Community Day program.
State Street’s Red Sox Community Day program has been hosting community groups at Fenway Park from May through August for several years.
In addition to Women’s Lunch Place the program has welcomed members of the Germantown Neighborhood Center, City Year Boston, Boys Scouts of America, Boston Ballet’s City Dance and Ellis Memorial to the park this season.
Women’s Lunch Place is a daytime shelter that provides more than 150 women and their children with daily hot meals, laundry and shower facilities, and a range of social, educational and advocacy services.
