Nearly 20 charter schools from Boston, Chelsea, Somerville, and Cambridge will participate in a free information and enrollment event at the Wentworth Institute of Technology, a local charter school organization announced.

The showcase will enable parents to learn about local charter schools, meet with school representatives, and apply for acceptance for fall 2013. Charter schools are tuition-free public schools open to all children, with enrollment determined by lotteries held each March.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Wentworth’s Watson Auditorium at 550 Huntington Avenue in Boston.

Participating schools include the Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School, Boston Collegiate Charter School, Boston Green Academy, Boston Preparatory Charter Public School, Codman Academy Charter Public School, Community Charter School of Cambridge, Conservatory Lab Charter School, Dorchester Collegiate Academy Charter School, Edward W. Brooke Charter School, KIPP Academy Boston, MATCH Charter Public School and MATCH Community Day Charter Public School, Neighborhood House Charter School, Phoenix Charter Academy, Prospect Hill Academy, Smith Leadership Academy Charter Public School, Uncommon Schools, UP Academy Charter School of Dorchester, and UP Academy Charter School of Boston.
