A lane of traffic on both Fenway and Park Drive will be shut down in the area of the Upper Fens Pond this week as work begins on the Muddy River restoration project.

The interior lane of the streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday until March 8 to allow crews to remove trees from the Upper Fens Pond area.

Arrow boards will alert drivers to the lane closures, and barrels and cones will be used for diversions. A State Police Trooper will also be on scene.

The Muddy River restoration project will re-open parts of the river that have been covered over the years and install larger culverts to improve water flow to help prevent flooding of the river that runs through the heart of Boston’s Emerald Necklace.

The $93 million project will also dredge the river and change traffic patterns around the Landmark Center and dredge the river.
