An entrance to the Kenmore subway station will be closed for five days next week so crews can perform needed drain maintenance, MBTA officials said.
The entrance on the eastbound side of Commonwealth Avenue by Hotel Commonwealth will be closed from Monday, May 13 to Friday, May 18, the T said on its website.
The Green Line station’s street level-to-mezzanine elevator will also be out of service during that span. Customers who normally use the elevator should click here for details about alternatives.
The entrance is popularly used by public transit riders going to and from events at and around Fenway Park, including home Boston Red Sox games. The Sox will be on a road trip throughout the period of the entrance closure.
There are two other entrances to the station. One, sometimes called the Beacon Street entrance, is located on the opposite side of the busy Kenmore Square intersection. The other is located inside the bus station in the center of the intersection. There is also an elevator at the bus station entrance, which will be in operation next week, a T spokesman said.
