Locals join MetroWest Jewish Day School Board

Two local residents were inaugurated to the board of the MetroWest Jewish Day School, in Framingham, earlier this month. Burt Marmer of Framingham was appointed co-president, and Dr. Lindsay Farrer of Wayland was named to the board of directors.

Marmer, a retired vice president of Avery Dennison, has served on various community boards, including the Jewish Family Service of Metrowest, the Town of Framingham, the Metrowest YMCA, the Metrowest Medical Center and the Temple Israel of Natick. Marmer graduated from Northeastern University and received an MBA from Babson College.

Marmer’s co-president is Donald Bloch, another Framingham resident.

Dr. Lindsay Farrer
Farrer teaches at the Boston University School of Medicine. As chief of genetics, he and his team have discovered genes related to Alzheimer’s and other diseases. Farrer serves on the Combined Jewish Philanthropies board of governors and was president of the Bureau of Jewish Education of Greater Boston. He often travels to Israel and works with Israeli doctors and scientists.
