The 28-year-old would-be developer of a strip club on Rte. 9 withdrew his application from the Zoning Board of Appeals today, according to Gene Kennedy, the board's administrator.

Kennedy said that Joe Ferguson’s proposal did not fall within the town district that allows adult entertainment businesses. That district is concentrated around Crossing Boulevard, a U-shaped road off of Rte. 9, said Kennedy.

Ferguson said in a brief telephone interview that he intends to locate his club in “a much better location” but refused to say whether that location will be in Framingham.

Strip clubs must locate within the district, and get a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals, said Kennedy.

Ferguson wanted to put his strip club near the intersection of Rte. 9 and California Avenue in the old Tin Alley Grill.
