With three-time all-New England forward Jason Silva fueling the attack, and other local players contributing, the Framingham State men’s soccer team launched its season with six straight victories, setting a program record.

Entering last Wednesday’s matchup against Babson (a 2-1 loss in overtime), the Rams had outscored the opposition, 19-2, while posting four shutouts.

A Milford High graduate from Northbridge, Silva netted seven goals in the first six games, including a pair of game-winners, and assisted on three other goals.

His teammates include senior Rob O’Doherty, a starting back from St. John’s of Shrewsbury; freshman Ronaldo Vieira (1 goal, 1 assist), a starting center midfielder from Framingham; Jepherson Cardoso (1 goal, 2 assists in three starts), a sophomore forward from Framingham; freshman center midfielder Romulo Carvalho and sophomore midfielder Bryan Damas of Milford; and senior midfielder Brunno Goncalves of Framingham (Colegio Radial in Brazil), a two-year starter who is injured.

‘‘Silva was the MVP of our conference last year, the fourth-leading scorer in school history and a repeat captain, a player the opposition knows they have to stop,’’ said head coach Dean Nichols, whose team won the MASCAC regular-season title in 2007, repeated in 2008, and advanced to the NCAA Division 3 tournament, and tied for second in the regular season last year.

‘‘O’Doherty is versatile, skilled, and fantastic with both feet, Vieira is a dynamic player who works extremely hard, Cardoso is a quick forward who creates scoring chances and Carvalho, unfortunately, was reinjured and will be out for a while, but he’s an attacking force at his position.’’
