A 29-year-old Framingham man died last Friday night after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing Waverly Street.
Middlesex District Attorney spokesperson Cara O’Brien said the DA’s office was notified of the accident at 8:45 p.m., 25 minutes after Framingham resident Cesar Castro was struck by the motor vehicle.
Framingham Police spokesman Lt. Ron Brandolini said Castro was crossing Waverly Street around 8:30 p.m. when he was hit by the truck driven by a Natick firefighter.
Castro was transported to MetroWest Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead later Friday evening, O'Brien said.
O’Brien could not release the driver's name or the make of the car due to an ongoing investigation, she said.
The Framingham Police are investigating the incident with the help of the State Police.
According to Brandolini, the victim was crossing a poorly-lit section of Waverly where there is no crosswalk. Brandolini said there was “no indication” that the firefighter driving the truck had acted irresponsibly in any way, but that the investigation was still ongoing.
