Oprah Winfrey said she had rewarding shopping experience in Framingham
Oprah Winfrey told CBS This Morning hosts on Thursday that her shopping trip to Target and Bed Bath and Beyond in Framingham last month was a rewarding moment for her.
Winfrey visited Massachusetts in August to help a handful of young South African women who are part of the first graduating class of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.
"Of all the things I've done with this school, I woke up on the morning we were going shopping [at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond in Framingham], and it really hit me: oh my God, we really did this," Winfrey said. "It's about getting the girls to a point where they can use the education we provided."
Winfrey took the girls shopping in Framingham on Aug. 23, tweeting photos of the girls in Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.
"Ladies start your shopping. Finishing up at Target. Classes can't start soon enough for me," Winfrey tweeted.
In a humorous moment, CBS This Morning host Gayle King - also a friend of Winfrey's - divulged in Thursday's interview that Winfrey called King and said she had no idea what Bed Bath and Beyond was, thinking it was a boutique, but ended up liking shopping there.
"I really liked the experience of Target and Bed Bath and Beyond," Winfrey said of her Framingham outing.
