Over 3,400 people have lost power in Framingham as of 5 p.m. today, according to utility company power outage maps.

NStar's power outage map shows that 3,478 of its Framingham customers have lost electricity. That number is about 12 percent of the nearly 27,000 Framingham customers the company serves.

Neighboring Sherborn is one of the worst hit in the area so far: 1,642 NStar customers are without power, approximately 95 percent of the company's customer base there. Nearby Natick has also been hit fairly hard: there are 2,927 NStar outages reported there, which is about 18 percent of NStar's Framingham customers.

National Grid has no reported power outages in the area on its power outage map.
More than 170,000 electric customers were without power this afternoon in Massachusetts. As of 4 p.m., about 82,000 National Grid customers had lost power, along with about 84,000 NStar customers, in addition to others.

“We have close to a thousand crews working on storm restoration,” Caroline Pretyman, NStar spokeswoman, said in an e-mail.

So far there have been no reports of injuries or serious damage, Governor Deval Patrick said at a 3:30 p.m. news conference.

“All in all, I think we’re holding our own,” he said.

At the same time, Patrick cautioned that the state was only 1 1/2 hours into a period of high winds that is expected to last until 11 p.m.

“I think it’s going well, but it’s Nature and it can change in a minute,” he said.
