State Senator Karen Spilka will visit the Shillman House in Framingham this Wednesday at 2 p.m. to tour the building and meet the local senior citizens who live there.
The building, located at 49 Edmands Rd. in Framingham’s Nobscot neighborhood, is owned and managed by Jewish Community Housing for the Elderly, an organization that manages affordable, non-sectarian housing for seniors in the Greater Boston area.
The Shillman House opened in June 2011, and is home to 175 seniors. It is a mixed-income development, offering both subsidized apartments as well as units available at affordable market rate.
On the tour, Spilka can look at some residents' apartments, and will also see the complex's communal space, which includes a bistro, dining room, fitness center, art studio, library, media center and beauty salon.
