Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham announced last week that Phil Knudsen, a seasoned musician and former management professional, will step up as the organization's executive director starting in January.
Knudsen will take the reins from founder Michael Moran, who announced in October that he would retire as executive director at the end of the year.
Knudsen, was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors to continue the Amazing vision of creating and promoting community through the arts.
Knudsen is a respected singer-songwriter who has been involved in the greater Boston and local music scene for the past 12 years, where along with his wife, Trisha, he has also hosted numerous open mikes for musicians and poets, according to Amazing Things.
He is retiring from a 23-year career at Dow Chemical where he demonstrated creativity as the author of numerous US patents, and managed multiple cross-functional teams through the use of shared vision and shared goals, the organization said.
“Phil brings both leadership strength and musical savvy to his new role," said Roger Sturgis, chairman-elect of the organization's board of directors. "Most importantly, he shares a spirited vision of the healing power of the arts to break down barriers and build bridges within the community. We are thrilled to have someone of his caliber and vision to lead Amazing Things Arts Center into the future."
Moran will work closely with Phil and the Board to ensure a smooth transition.
Amazing Things Arts Center was founded in 2004 to bring together a diverse community of artists, arts supporters and arts appreciators of all ages, cultures and interests in a supportive and nurturing environment.
