Framingham State University's newest dorm, North Hall, has been evacuated after a small fire broke out on the sixth floor just after 12 p.m., according to university officials.
No one was injured in the fire, and the cause is under investigation.
University officials said the fire alarm notified emergency personnel immediately, and the Framingham Fire Department responded.
Most of the building remained unscathed, except for a few dorm rooms that suffered minor water damage, officials said.
Most of the dormitory hall, which opened in fall 2011, will be open to students at some point tonight, officials said.
Students who live in the units with water damage will be relocated by the university until their rooms are reopened.
