Framingham State University have announced three finalists for the university president job after Timothy Flanagan left this summer to take the presidency at Illinois State.

A search committee has recommended Kutztown University president F. Javier Cevallos; California State University at Bakersfield provost and vice president of academic affairs Soraya M. Coley; and Hood College provost and vice president of academic affairs Katherine S. Conway-Turner, according to a statement from Framingham State.

The three finalists were chose from a pool of about 80, according to the university. The three candidates, who have already had one interview each this fall, will go on to another set of interviews this December. During this time, the community can meet the candidates, according to university representatives.

The search committee is expected to make a final decision by the end of December.

Richard C. Logan, chairman of the 13-member search committee, said he is pleased with the pool of finalists.

“There was a high level of interest in the position, which helped us come up with a diverse and strong group of finalists,” Logan said. “We look forward to welcoming each of them to campus in the coming weeks to meet with our students, faculty and staff to share their visions for the future of this university."

Robert A. Martin, former vice president of academic affairs of Framingham State, is serving as the university's interim president until a new president is hired and takes over.
