Ian Lee Brown was named Executive Director of Linden Ponds, an Erickson Living development and retirement community in Hingham, after nearly 10 years with the Erickson Living company.

Previously the Executive Director of the company’s Greenspring campus in Northern Virginia and Associate Executive Director of Cedar Crest in Northern New Jersey, Brown boasts of decades of experience in community living.

“My expectations, my goals are to continue to build upon the legacy of success ... to build upon the very strong employee and resident satisfaction, and to drive settlements, to encourage people to see the value of living in a community such as this,” Brown said of the new job.

Linden Ponds has 1,200 residents and 754 employees.

“To be honest, I always say you can’t have great days for the residents if you don’t have happy employees,” Brown said. “So we’re creating an experience for the employees to build along the residents a great culture. So they can be happy and provide great service to the residents who live amongst us.

Brown has been in the position for the past few weeks, and stepped into the role after Anita Holt, the previous executive director, left the position in December.

Brown hopes to build off her success with more community programs and residential interactions, the cornerstone of community living.

Currently, he’s easing into the role by doing, what he calls, “managing by walking,” learning residents’ names and hearing out their concerns.

“I’m right on the campus right now, and walking around the campus, getting to know the residents by name … getting into conversations of what can continue to build a great culture, and what they believe I should be listening to and building upon,” he said.

Prior to his work at Linden Ponds, Brown was Executive Director of Sedgebrook in Illinios from 2004 to 2006. In addition, he also served as a vice-president at Collington Episcopal Life-Care Community, Inc. in Mitchellville, Maryland, as director for program services for a Johns Hopkins HealthCare affiliated health center in Baltimore, and as director for corporate community and government affairs for Dimensions Healthcare System in Largo, Maryland.

Although he is new to the area, Brown said the staff has made him feel at home.

“The team here, not just the employees but residents, have already given me Red Sox gear and New England Patriots, so I’m already rooting for both teams. I love this part of the country and I’m looking forward to celebrating with the residents when our teams win,” he said.

Brown is currently the chair of the Erickson’s Diversity and Inclusion Council and a member of the Graduate Alumni Council of Lake Forest College.
