Hingham girls advance to hockey quarterfinals

Jane Freda had three assists for the Harbormen, who got goals from five players in beating Chelmsford High 5-2 Saturday in the MIAA Division 1 hockey playoffs.

The win puts the Hingham girls (16-6-1) in the quarterfinals next Wednesday against second-seeded Westford Academy (17-2-2) at Stoneham Arena.

Though Hingham entered the tournament as a 10th seed and had to play in the preliminary round, the girls have run off two impressive victories, beating Masconomet 6-1 before Saturday's first-round victory.

Westford Academy had a bye in the first round, and defeated 15th seeded Weymouth 5-4 Saturday to advance to the quarterfinals.
