The benefit dinner will take place at the Hei La Moon restaurant in the Leather District, just across the John F. Fitzgerald Surface Road from the Chinatown Gate.

Hyde Park’s Academy of the Pacific Rim Charter Public School will celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Snake with a benefit dinner at a Chinese restaurant in the Leather District.

The charter school, which integrates Asian teaching methods into its curriculum and requires that all students in grades 7 – 12 study Mandarin, hosts the dinner each Chinese New Year as a benefit for its Chinese language and culture program.

“With the emergence of China as an economic powerhouse and the growth of the local Chinese business community, it is becoming more important than ever to give our schoolchildren a solid foundation in Chinese language and culture,” the academy said in a statement. “APR is dedicated to incorporating Asian teaching philosophies into an American college preparatory curriculum by combining the best of the East with the best of the West.”

The dinner will take place at the Hei La Moon Restaurant at 88 Beach Street in the Leather District from 6 – 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. For more information, call 617-361-0050 or visit http://www.pacrim.org.
