A Jamaica Plain-based food and nutrition nonprofit that aids critically- and chronically-ill families across Massachusetts was awarded a $40,000 grant from the state's affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Community Servings was one of 25 nonprofits in the state to receive grants that combined to more than $950,000.

The grant donations are an effort by the breast-cancer-fighting Komen initiative to "fulfill its vision of '100% Screening, 100% Access to Care,'" said an announcement.
