Fred Ciampa, longtime owner of Same Old Place pizzeria in Jamaica Plain, dies
The longtime owner of the popular Same Old Place pizzeria in Jamaica Plain has died.
Frederick B. Ciampa, a familiar face around the Centre Street restaurant that opened in 1977, died Sunday. He was 69.
The pizza parlor has been frequented for its slices, subs and staff, including the beloved proprietor. In fall of 2010 the shop became the scene of a violent gang-related stabbing and shooting. Days later, the line of residents and public officials ordering food from the pizzeria stretched out the door. And, months later the community's support had not waned.
It was a testament to the business and the man who led it.
Ciampa's family will receive visitors at the Gillooly Funeral Home at 126 Walpole St., Route 1A, in Norwood on Wed. July 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., according to an obituary in the Globe.
His funeral service is scheduled for Thurs., July 26, at 9 a.m. at St. Dennis Church at 157 Washington St. in Westwood, followed by a burial at Blue Hills Cemetery in Braintree.
