Cat thrown from moving car in Roxbury now up for adoption after recovering from broken leg

A new, permanent home is being sought for a 7-month old cat allegedly thrown from a moving car in Roxbury.

Veterinarians at the MSPCA Angell animal medical and adoption center said the cat is available for adoption and is recovering from surgery to mend a broken leg she suffered when, according to witnesses, the cat was flung out a car window.

Amanda and Kimberly Troisi were driving near Dudley Square on June 29 when they saw the cat thrown from a car traveling ahead of them. The couple quickly pulled over, picked up the frightened, injured cat and brought her to the Jamaica Plain animal hospital’s Shalit-Glazer Clinic, which aids homeless animals.

Veterinarians performed surgery to repair the fractured rear leg and have since named her.

“Cleo has been recovering well and enjoying what every cat her age loves to do: alternating between chasing toys and napping in the sunlight,” the animal medical center said in a statement.

“Cleo is an especially lucky cat because had it not been for Amanda and Kimberly and their quick thinking, it’s possible she could have died,” said a statement from Cindi Cox, head veterinarian for the Shalit-Glazer Clinic. “I’m grateful that she made it to us and we were able to heal her ahead of finding a loving and permanent home for her.”
