Boston City Councilor Matt O’Malley will host his next “Office Hours on the Run” in Jamaica Plain on Saturday, Oct. 20, his office announced.

He and members of the Forest Hills Runners group will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Daisy Field, which is located at the corner of the Jamaicaway and Bynner Street.

Residents and fitness enthusiasts of all abilities are invited to run with O’Malley and discuss local issues as part of an effort he recently launched that aims to combine physical fitness and constituent services.

“It’s not a race or a competition,” said a statement from O’Malley, who runs regularly and has completed six marathons. “It’s an opportunity to solve problems and build community. Plus, everyone can check exercise off of their Saturday to do list.”

O’Malley held the first running office hours in West Roxbury in last month in conjunction with the Parkway Running Club. More than 20 residents joined the jog which included periodic stops to discuss a dangerous sidewalk crack and increased trash near the local business district.

“My first ‘Office Hours on the Run’ was a huge success despite pouring rain and the threat of thunder and lighting,” O’Malley said. “We had a great group of residents who pointed out a number of different concerns around the neighborhood. Now I want to hear from residents of Jamaica Plain.”

“The route will be determined by the constituents who attend,” the statement continued “I want to see the problems up close. I am urging residents to lead the way.”

O’Malley will also continue to hold regular district office hours in October.

They will be held on:

Friday, Oct. 12 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Harry’s All American Breakfast, 1420 Centre St., Roslindale. West Roxbury liaison Bill MacGregor will also attend.

Friday, Oct. 26 from 8 to 9 a.m. JP Licks, 659 Centre St., Jamaica Plain. Neighborhood liaison Ture Turnbull will also attend.

The councilor’s City Hall office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. To his office call 617-635-4220.
