Boston Police are searching for a car they say was spotted driving near the scene of a fatal shooting in Jamaica Plain on Sunday.

Police released a photograph of the car and a statement Wednesday describing it as a Ford Flex that “was seen in close proximity to the incident” in which a 26-year-old man was found shot in the chest in the backyard of 104 Minden St. at about 8:30 p.m. and was later pronounced dead in the hospital.

The statement said members of the police department’s homicide unit want to speak to those who were in the car, but authorities did not specify why.

Police and the district attorney’s office have declined repeatedly to release further details this week, including the victim’s name.

Anyone with information about the shooting, the car or its occupants, is asked to call the Boston Police homicide unit at 617-343-4470. Information can also be provided anonymously by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463).
