Lexington firefighters continue to investigate the cause of a two-alarm fire that displaced a family of four from their two-story home on Reed Street Thursday evening.

No one was injured in the fire, which residents of
94 Reed St. reported about 5 p.m. before fleeing the burning home for safety, according to an statement released by Lexington Assistant Fire Chief John Fleck.

Firefighters found extensive fire on the first in second floors of the home upon arrival and sounded a second alarm that brought in assistance from from seven neighboring fire departments.

Fleck said a drop in temperatures and the depth of snow around the house made it more difficult to extinguish the fire. Crews remained at the scene until 10 p.m. Thursday.
