Motorists who drive electric cars now have a place to plug in and recharge in Lexington after the town has installed new charging stations.
The charging stations, located in the parking lot off of Edison Way in Lexington Center, were turned on in a ribbon-cutting ceremony held by the town Monday evening.
They are Lexington’s first electric car charging stations and were funded through a grant program offered by the state Department of Energy Resources. Lexington was one of 25 cities and towns to receive funding for the charging stations.
In September, selectmen approved the charging stations, which are near the Minuteman bikeway and are each capable of charging two cars at a time.
