MarketStreet Lynnfield, the North Shore’s largest open-air shopping destination, announces it will open a charming ice skating rink to the public as of Black Friday, November 29, 2013. With views of Reedy Meadow and neighbors like Whole Foods, Athleta, Williams Sonoma, J.Crew, Pottery Barn, lululemon athletica, Kings, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse and Legal C Bar, MarketStreet Rink is an ideal place for families and friends to enjoy the time-honored tradition of winter skating as well as an enhancement to the destination’s experience. www.marketstreetlynnfield.com

MarketStreet Rink is a 50'x100' classic skating rink situated on “The Green”, which is the centerpiece of MarketStreet Lynnfield’s community events, performances and gatherings. The rink will play festive music and be illuminated by snowflake lights. Adding to the rink’s focus on skating, MarketStreet Lynnfield is planning an exciting calendar of events such as fashion shows on ice, “pond hockey” style tournaments, and figure skating showcases. Gourmet hot chocolate, coffee and tea will be available at J.P Licks, Starbucks, The Grove, Panera Bread, Whole Foods Market and Teavana.

“It’s like a quaint Rockefeller Center right here in the North Shore,” stated Noel Cadorette, Marketing Director at MarketStreet Lynnfield, “There was a real need in the area for public skating destinations so it’s wonderful that we’re creating a fun and accessible option for friends and families to gather right here at MarketStreet Lynnfield.”

To operate, the rink uses 5,000 gallons of water and 30,000 feet of tubing in its chiller grid. A 100-ton refrigeration unit ensures optimal ice temperature even when the air is warmer. MarketStreet Rink will be open from November 29, 2013 through late February, 2014. Hours and rates for the season are as follows; guests can bring their own skates or rent. The rink may be rented for private parties and events, pending its availability.
