Suspect arrested in bank robbery
Malden Police have arrested Amir Cure, a 58-year-old homeless man, on suspicion of robbing the Bank of America at 444 Lynn St.
Police responded to a robbery alert at the bank just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday. They later learned that Cure fled on foot toward Revere, Lieutenant Marc Gatcomb said in an e-mail.
He said officers conducted a "thorough sweep" of a part of Sherman Street just over the line in Revere before apprehending Cure. Police recovered nearly $13,000, plus clothes worn during the robbery and a note passed to a teller, Gatcomb said.
Cure was arraigned Thursday in Malden District Court and is being held on $20,000 cash bail. His next court date is Oct. 1. Authorities believe Cure may have committed other robberies in the North Shore area, and an investigation is underway.
