The following is a press release from Malden Catholic High School:
Malden Catholic High School recognized the achievements of three community members last night during its annual St. Francis Xavier Society Dinner.
"These individuals represent the values, character and leadership for which Malden Catholic is known," said Edward C. Tyrrell, Malden Catholic Headmaster. "We are proud to recognize their contributions to our school and the larger community."
Robert Muse of Brookline, a 1938 graduate of Malden Catholic, received the Xaverian Charism Award. Rooted deeply in the Xaverian Brothers charism are five values that distinguish the order's spirituality. These values are humility, trust, zeal, compassion and simplicity. The Xaverian Charism Award honors a volunteer of the Malden Catholic Community who exemplifies the five values and is an example of the thoughtful and caring way of living as learned through a Xaverian Brothers' education.
Robert McEvoy of Medford, a 2005 Malden Catholic graduate, received the Young Leadership Award. This award recognizes the tireless and unstinting generosity of a young man who leads by example among his peers in the Malden Catholic Community. The recipient consistently and benevolently provides his energies towards helping and leading others without expecting anything in return. It is the recipient's selflessness and mature leadership skills that provide an example for other young Malden Catholic men to follow.
Br. Thomas Lydon, CFX, of Malden is a current staff member at Malden Catholic and served in the school's business office for many years. Br. Lydon received The Theodore James Ryken Award, which recognizes a member of Malden Catholic High School who, by his commitment and dedication, strives to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and participates in the community of faith. He nurtures members of the community; is committed to academic excellence and to the recognition of the talents of individuals; recognizes the importance of educating the whole person; and strives to fulfill the Gospel call to peace and justice.
