Nine Malden Catholic seniors named commended students
The following is a press release issued Oct. 8 by Malden Catholic High School:
Malden Catholic High School announced today that nine seniors have been named as Commended Students in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented to these scholastically talented young men.
Commended Students placed among the top 2.3 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
"The young men named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding academic potential by their strong performance in this nationally competitive program," said Edward C. Tyrrell, Malden Catholic Headmaster. "This recognition is well-deserved, and we know that these students will continue to diligently pursue their educational goals and make their parents and communities proud."
