Malden police were called to the Ferryway Elementary School on Tuesday after a student allegedly assaulted a teacher during school hours.

According to police, a 12-year old male student left school grounds while class was in session two days a row. On the second day, he attempted to reenter the school to retrieve his bookbag, but was stopped by school officials. When the boy used force to enter the school, police were called.

“The assault issue was when the boy tried to push his way into the school,” said Lieutenant Marc Gatcomb.

No injuries were reported and no criminal charges have been filed. Police spoke with parents, students and officials at the scene. School officials will investigate the matter internally.
