mvrcs-st. clements.jpgOn a hot and humid Saturday morning the Mystic Valley Eagles were able shut down the St. Clement Anchormen’s offense and produce a 16-0 win. This was the first time that a Mystic Valley football team has ever shut out an opponent. The win leaves the Eagles with a 2-1 record as they prepare for their first home game of the year this Saturday against Chelsea High.

The Eagles scoring came first by virtue of a six yard run by quarterback Mike Pascal early in the second quarter. The touchdown represented a big turning point in the game because it came on 4th and goal and the Eagles couldn’t afford to give St. Clement a big momentum boost. Gardy St. Paul ran in the two point conversion to give the Eagles the 8-0 lead at the half.

St. Paul struck again in the third quarter running for a 7 yard touchdown. St. Paul led the way with 81 yards rushing on the game for the Eagles. Alex Arredondo followed up by running in the two point conversion.

Alex Arredondo had 9 1/2 tackles to lead the defense to its first ever shut out of an opponent.
