Steve Ultrino announced this week his intention to run for the Malden City Council to fill the seat left vacant in Ward 2 by Paul Condon, who announced recently that he will not seek reelection, according to statement.

In the announcement, Ultrino said his educational and management credentials give him unique insight into the challenges facing Malden, applauding the city’s schools and its business community, according to the release.

“It is our responsibility as leaders to support what is best about Malden and to work with our residents to solve problems as they arise,” he said in the release, adding:

“It is essential that elected officials listen carefully to the experiences of our residents and business owners. They often have the best ideas about how to meet a challenge or solve a problem, and they can give us valuable feedback about what the city does well,” he said in the statement.

Ultrino will run against Gene Pinkham, another long-time community activist from the ward.
