Jaime W. Barros, of 123 Boylston St. in Malden, was arrested by the Medford police after he was picked up for questioning in connection to a reported incident of abuse.
He was charged with rape of a child by force and posing or exhibiting a child in a sexual act, according to Medford police records.
Medford Police Lieutenant Paul Covino said in a phone interview Barros was known to the family of his victim, but he could not provide further details.
Barros was arraigned April 20 in Somerville District Court, where he was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail, said Cara O'Brien, spokeswoman for the office of Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.
