Malden boy, 11, dead after apparent drowning

An 11-year-old Salemwood School student died last week after he apparently drowned at his Wheeler Street home in Malden, authorities said.

Josue Eltune died July 22, according to the office of the Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr., which investigated the case, but determined there was no foul play, said spokeswoman Cara O'Brien.

Karen Steele, director of the Partnership for Community Schools in Malden, said the boy was pronounced dead a day after he was rushed to Children's Hospital.

A call to a phone number listed for the 11 Wheeler St. home went unanswered today.

"It's very, very sad," Steele said.
