Malden police released this image of the man believed to have robbed the Stoneham Savings Bank Tuesday.

Police have released images of the man who robbed the Stoneham Savings Bank on Charles Street Tuesday, Malden police said.

The suspect wielded a handgun in the robbery, reported at 2:50 p.m., before he fled on foot, said Lieutenant George Grimes.

The man was about 5 foot 8 inches tall, thinly built, and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark sunglasses, a gray hat, blue jeans, white sneakers, and a red backpack, Grimes said.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the hold-up, Grimes said. Malden police and the FBI bank robbery task force are investigating, he said.
