A Somerville man was arraigned today in Malden District Court for allegedly robbing the US Alliance Credit Union on Eastern Avenue, police said.

The robbery was reported at 2:50 p.m., when authorities allege John Mellone entered the credit union, showed a note to a teller demanding cash, then fled on a motor scooter, according to statement by Malden Police.

Mellone abandoned the scooter and took a taxi to his home on Montgomery Street in Somerville, near Foss Park. Officers tracked to the home, where he was arrested, police said in the statement.

A judge ordered him held on $3,500 bail, police said.

A call to Malden police for comment was not immediately returned.
