A Somerville man was arraigned today in Malden District Court for allegedly robbing the US Alliance Credit Union on Eastern Avenue.

The robbery was reported at 2:50 p.m., Wednesday when police alleged John Mellone entered the bank, showed a note to a teller demanding cash, then fled a motor scooter, according to statement by Malden Police.

Mellone abandoned the scooter and took a taxi to his home on Montgomery Street in Somerville, according to police. Officers tracked him to his residence, where Mellone was arrested.

Mellone was held on $3,500 bail, police said.

A call to Malden police for comment was not immediately returned.
