The Blue and Gold is an award-winning high school newspaper based in Malden. For 97 years, the paper has been serving Malden High School and beyond by reporting local and world news to the community.

The Blue and Gold staff recognizes the need to adapt to changes within the journalism industry. To assure that they reach their audience, they have integrated their print and online editions, including the use of smart phone apps and links that will take the reader directly from the paper to the website and all of its key contents.

“As the internet becomes an essential media source in today's society, we feel it is now necessary to publish content online on a regularly updated basis, including posting articles and content in between print cycles, which will still come out once a month. For example, since our last print edition, our website has featured articles and other content including this year’s Junior Varieties and Ashly Brun’s Poetry Out Loud performance (which both include videos), movie reviews, a letter to the editor from Mayor Gary Christenson, several sports articles, and much, much more,” commented senior Dan Holmqvist, Blue and Gold Editor-In-Chief.

“Since we will be updating our content more often, we would also like to encourage our audiences to read us more often. Readers can also follow our Twitter feed, RSS feed, or Youtube Channel, “like” our Facebook page, or make it a habit to go to our website (www.maldenblueandgold.com) a few times a week,” said Managing Editor, senior Paige Yurek.
