Cheverus dedicates scholarship to Dianne Dingolo
The following was submitted by the Cheverus School in Malden:
Dianne Dingolo, who served first as a teacher and then as a popular principal of The Cheverus School, a Catholic parochial school in Malden, was known for her compassion, fairness, and dedication. Now, a scholarship fund launched in her memory will be assisting students who embody those same qualities.
Dingolo spent most of her life as an educator, first with the Sisters of the Cross and Passion and later, after she left religious life, at Emmanuel College in Boston, Pope John High XXIII School in Everett, and finally as teacher and principal at the Cheverus School from which she retired in 1998. She was the wife of Robert Dingolo and passed away at age 68 on Jan. 21.
“Dianne was very much committed to the Cheverus School. It was a place she loved and where she was very much loved and admired in return. We are pleased to carry on the ideals she helped inspire in students through a scholarship fund dedicated to her memory,” said Susan Degnan, who became principal of the Cheverus School after Dingolo retired.
The first scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a Cheverus student this spring. A volunteer committee of former students, staff, and supporters of the school has been formed to maintain and administer the scholarship.
Donations are welcomed. Anyone interested in giving to the Dianne Dingolo Scholarship Fund can donate online at www.cheverusschool.com or can send a check payable to the Dianne Dingolo Scholarship Fund, Cheverus School, 30 Irving St., Malden, MA 02148.
For more information, contact Susan Degnan at 781-324-6584. The Cheverus School is part of the Sacred Heart Parish in Malden.
