Police officers and public employees from eight cities from around Boston and the North Shore will join youth from their communities to compete Aug. 4 at Trum Field in Somerville in a good-will basketball tournament.

The five-member teams, which hail from Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Quincy, Somerville, and Winthrop, were organized to play by the Metro Mayors Coalition to show solidarity between young people and members of law enforcement.

Malden police officers will make up the city's five-member squad, according to organizers.

Games start at 9:30 a.m., with a three-point contest and youth dance show mixed into the schedule. In case of rain, games will be moved indoors to the Somerville High School gymnasium on Highland Avenue.
