A squad of Malden police officers doffed their badges and pulled on softball mitts Saturday in Woburn to raise money in honor of a fallen officer, John "Jack" Maguire, who was killed in the line of duty in 2010 in a department store robbery. The 11-man team went undefeated among 20 law enforcement teams from the region, who compted in a tournament held in Maguire's honor. Malden beat the team from the Reading Police Department in the final game. The tournament raised $5,000 for a memorial charity. At center is Maguire's wife, Desiree, who presented the winner's trophy. The officers pictured are not named because many are plain-clothes, the department said.
